Description: This Belgian sour pours with a light crisp head that recedes quickly and leaves some residual lacing behind. The aromatics are filled with a definite oak presence, a nice sour tone, an array of light fruits (cherry, strawberry) and finishes off with a floral undertone. The flavor is not outdone by the aromatics though.

Overview: This two year project has finally become a reality, and let me just say, it was worth the wait. An Oud Bruin is not a style of beer that is often seen in the craft world. This complicated brew has become popular though and was the perfect project for Squatters Head Brewer, Jennifer Talley. After they pulled Fifth Element off the oak in July 2008, they laid down 529 for sixteen months and waited for it to sour. Next they blended a two-month old Oud Bruin to increase the complexity of the beer, giving it a total aging time of 529 days. I could not be more excited about the release of this locally crafted Belgian beer. At $18.95 a bottle you can get yours today at Squatters, but hurry they may sell out quicker than you’d think… provided they let me buy a pallet of them.
