Best show of the day:
–12 a.m. Christian Mistress/Relapse Records @ Dirty Dog Bar

Christian Mistress more than lived up to expectations. Frontwoman Christine Davis has a gor-geous set of pipes on her—she sang harmoniously over the heavy metal that catapulted over the Dirty Dog Bar. The audience was a bit sparse, but the energy of those watching fed into her vo-cal exertion; Davis seemed a bit miffed at the attendance—or something—but she channeled her aggression into her performance, which was KILLER. Guitarists Oscar Sparbel and Eric Wallace took turns shredding scorching solos and harmonized as any proper heavy metal guitar smiths should. The whole band, crowned with long hesher hair, were wont to headbang in unison, which made for some great camera ops. Their standout song was “Possession,” wherein Davis elicited responses from crowd to Christian Mistress’s catchy rock n’ roll. This band hit the sweet spot for classic metal—it would be foolish to miss them if the opportunity arose.

Worst incident:
–A tragic accident that killed two people. Please drive safe. – Thumbs Down
