How was their stage presence?
Merchandise had manifested a persona during their show that said, “accept us or reject us, we really don’t care.” They create a calm and introverted demeanor through vocals combined with small, slow-flowing movements while the lead singer would close his eyes to feel the music, crowd and energy of the room, much like any successful shoegaze band.
Give a musical equation that describes the band’s sound.
Morrissey + Jesus and Mary Chain = Merchandise
Did the music make you want to mosh, close your eyes and sway, or something in between?
The vibe given off from Merchandise made me want to gaze at my shoes and sway while quickly changing into a slow motion body convulsing action.
What was the best song they played?
By far the best song played was “Time” because of the slow buildup in the beginning of the song and sudden guitar changes which create an amazing melody.
What was the funniest thing said on stage?
One of the funniest things said by Cox, the lead singer and songwriter for the band: “I have never seen so many people at our show before” folowed by, “Such a big youth market,” in a sarcastic tone.
