Lauren's SLUG masterpiece.

Each month, SLUG features a local artist and their work on the west wall of the café in Whole Foods at Trolley Square.

September's Add a Dash of Local Art features Lauren Mitchell.

To get a better idea of who they are, we invite the artist to the SLUG office and ask them to answer a few very strange and random questions that the office staff has come up with. They then create a piece of art out of their answers, with whatever supplies we have laying around the office (i.e., old paint, colored pencils, mod podge, and a current SLUG issue. We are very crafty over here). Lauren picked the following 3 questions to depict in her 'SLUG Masterpiece':

- What is your spirit vegetable?
- What is your favorite food?
- What's the most useful invention ever?

We also asked Lauren a few more regular questions to get a better idea of who she is.

Who are you?

A person who enjoys life and love and everything that comes with it.

When did you decide to become an artist?
I have been creating as long as I can remember. It's what I wanted to be when I grew up.

How would you classify your work?

Bright and colorful. It just makes you feel good.

What do you think of the art scene here in SLC?
I think it's awesome. People are not afraid to be themselves here!

Any words of wisdom?
Everyone is an artist, so get out there and find out what you are good at!

Check out Lauren's work through September 30, hanging on the West wall of the cafe area the next time you are at Whole Foods Trolley Square.
