East India Youth = Imagine Dragons + The Crystal Method + Requiem for a Dream soundtrack
In between up-tempo, heavily synthesized electronic piano melodies, the debut album from this English producer tells a musical story⎯as should any good album. The placements of the songs in the album are harsh to the listener, but go with the overall theme of the album’s name. The album emulates a continuous feeling of confused emotions, flipping back and forth between up and down-tempos while using the same instruments. East India Youth capture raw emotion in music without lyrics in songs like “Glitter Recession” and “Total Strife I-IV,” while songs like “Dripping Down” and “Looking for Someone” provide a break from the otherwise relaxing and saddening feel to the album. –Julia Sachs
