Equals = Birthquake + This Will Destroy You

Tracts, to me, came across mostly like a Friday Night Lights soundtrack, most apparent through “Glistener,” with a strong sense of peace in the instrumentation, as if you’re hovering above your house on a quiet evening. Typical of a quintet rock band, the album lacks any vocals, allowing you to really hone in on the melodies and structure of the pieces. Nearing the end of the album, “Sweat House” starts these trilling notes that slowly expand into a more cohesive chaos, after which it slowly fades into “Reality Always Disappoints,” the final track on the album, in which we all cry and learn how to hate ourselves. –Brinley Froelich
