Performing under the nom-de-brood Casiotone For the Painfully Alone, Owen Ashworth plumbed the emotional depths of the cheesy keyboard that was his namesake. Taking the name Advance Base in 2011, he still uses vintage gear, but now it’s warmer electric organ from an earlier age, and his songwriting/storytelling comes more under the guise of classical pop forms and more mellifluous singing style. It’s still a story of loneliness, but now it’s a loneliness to be shared. –Stakerized!
