Sherman Baker = The Shins + Nick Drake
Is it just me (it usually is), or are our soundwaves over-saturated with quiet, reflective singer songwriters, playing the kind of bland folk that attracts men who use mustache combs and apprentice beekeepers? Sometimes I turn on the radio and feel as if I’m in a coffee shop in Hell, where the only kind of coffee they serve is hazelnut flavored and Nixon’s grinding the beans! Twee and armed with a list of influences that reads more like an oldies station set list, Sherman Baker might quell this problem. He’s darker and more complex than the Mumford & Sons of the world, yet still accessible enough for the coffee shop crowd. –Taylor Hale
