Twilight Concert Series 2015: St. Vincent, Best Coast

Show Reviews

Twilight has come to an end, and there’s no better way to close out the series than by having two incredible bands melt some faces on Thursday night. Best Coast and St. Vincent forever stamped their names into the minds of every person in the crowd, as their performances were some of the most memorable of the series. Best Coast opened up the night with their jangle-pop sound, which kept me intrigued with each and every song they played. Lead singer Bethany Cosentino and guitarist Bobb Bruno may look as though they come from two different worlds, but their sound could not have been more cohesive. Fans enjoyed their set as small dance parties popped up in every corner of the park. Headlining act and series closer St. Vincent was an extremely smart choice. Fans grabbed their flashing key chains and turned the night into a techno-rockish rave, with St. Vincent providing the New Age sound  that  eclipsed all others who have tried and failed before them. St. Vincent’s sound can really only be described as definitive of this generation. Whether they are your cup of tea or not, the reality is that their music is representative of everyone within the post-‘80s generation. Without a doubt, this has been one of the best performances of the series to date.
