Job Title: Event Coordinator 

Reports to: Executive Editor and Community Development Manager (depending on the project)

Critical Tasks & Responsibilities: 

  • Represent SLUG Magazine at all community events
  • Represent SLUG Magazine at all SLUG events
  •  Work with Marketing Coordinator to plan, book and execute SLUG Magazine’s presence at numerous community and SLUG produced events throughout the year
  •  Assist Marketing Coordinator in running monthly meetings with SLUG’s Marketing Team
  • Work with Marketing Coordinator to recruit, train and coordinate SLUG Magazine’s volunteer marketing team
  • Work with the SLUG Team to plan and produce annual SLUG Magazine Events including but not limited to:
    • The SLUG Cat: An AlleyCat Urban Cycling Race
    • SLUG’s Summer of Death Skate Series
    • The SLUG Games Amateur Ski and Snowboarding Contest Series
    • SLUG Magazine’s Annual Anniversary Party
  • Work with Executive Editor, Community Development Manager and Lead Designer to ensure all SLUG branded event websites are updated
  • Develop new programming actives for the SLUG Magazine event booth
  • Develop new systems for inventory management of SLUG merchandise
  • Develop new merchandise sales goals and incentive programs for SLUG Marketing Team
  • Communicate and inform SLUG staff and volunteers about the events where the SLUG Magazine Booth is booked
  • Develop new systems for tracking the success of community event participation
  • Provide weekly progress reports to Executive Editor
  • Promote events where the SLUG Magazine booth is booked
  • Prepare SLUG booth and supplies for events
  • Unpack and organize SLUG booth and supplies after events

Qualifications

  • Previous experience representing an organization on-site, at community events
  • Ability to work in an event environment for extended periods
  • Ability to work outdoors in severe climates
  • Able to work weekends and evenings
  • Must have own reliable transportation
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds
  • Passionate event production
  • Previous retail and cashier experience
  • Previous inventory management experience
