Banned Books Week Open Reading

September 20 @ 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

|Recurring Event (See all)

One event on January 1, 1970 at 11:00am

Location: Level 3, just inside the east entrance

Make your voice heard and fight for your right to read! Read aloud from your favorite banned or challenged book. Bring your own or feel free to choose from selections we’ll bring to the event. Free refreshments will be provided.

Banned Books Week 2018 brings together the entire book community — librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types — in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular.

The books featured during Banned Books Week have all been targeted with removal or restricted in libraries and schools. By focusing on efforts across the country to remove or restrict access to books, Banned Books Week draws national attention to the harms of censorship.
