Brunch for Bibliophiles: Contemporary Literature with UMOCA

March 11 @ 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Free

Join us the second Sunday of each month at Finca (327 W. 200 South), for a book club and social hour hosted by UMOCA.

Finca will offer a mimosa and/or bloody mary special + a tortilla española at a special price exclusively for the book club. Membership in Brunch for Bibliophiles is free, but each person will be responsible for their own tab at Finca.

We will start at 10:30 sharp, but hope you’ll come by as early as 10:00 a.m. to get to know your fellow book club members.

The book selection for March is “Fire Sermon” by Jamie Quattro.

“Maggie is entirely devoted to her husband Thomas, their two beautiful children and to God―until what begins as a platonic intellectual and spiritual exchange between writer Maggie and poet James transforms into an erotically-charged bond that challenges Maggie’s sense of loyalty and morality, drawing her deeper into the darkness of desire.

A daring debut novel of obsession, lust, and salvation by the highly lauded author of the story collection, ‘I Want To Show You More,’ “Fire Sermon” is a tour de force that charts with bold intimacy and immersive sensuality the life of a married woman in the grip of a magnetic affair.”

It is available from local independent booksellers or the internet superstore of your choosing.
