Experimenting with Hybrid Writing

September 7 @ 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 1:00 PM on Saturday, repeating until October 19, 2019

7-Part Workshop September 7, 14, 21, 28 & October 5, 12 & 19 (Saturday), 1-3:30 p.m.

In this 7- week workshop we will explore textual experimentation and hybridity by looking at different literary and art forms, such as the prose poem, flash fiction, short form non-fiction, the lyric essay, folk tale, recipe, collage, and song lyrics, among others. You will familiarize yourself and experiment with these forms in your own writing and learn how combining or changing genres can bring your story to life. This is a generative workshop which will provide in-class writing exercises, allow you to produce new writing in a safe environment through guided exercises and prompts, and give you an opportunity to present your new work to the community during the final class session. Open to all levels (18+). Give yourself permission to be unapologetically creative and expect to be pushed beyond your comfort zone (in a good way).

Taught by Guest Writer Masha Shukovich: http://www.mashashukovich.com/

Cost: Free. Registration is required.
