The Letter Box Project

March 19 - March 31

Experience the personal connection you can get from handwritten letters. Drop a quarter into a restored vending machine and receive a handwritten, hand-decorated letter from a member of the community. Letters are available in English, Spanish, Russian, Somali, and Vietnamese, along with large print and braille.

Quarters will be available at the Library for anyone who needs one.

The Letter Box Project was created by Salt Lake City- and Boise-based artists Chris Copelin and Nicole MacDonald. The project was originally funded by the Boise City Dept of Arts & History, and debuted at the Boise Main Library in Summer 2017. The Salt Lake City rendition of The Letter Box Project is a collaboration between the SLCC Community Writing Center, The City Library, and the artists.
