Pride at the Park Utah County

Free, family-friendly community event

The motivation to host this was to have an accessible, nearby, FREE, all ages celebration for pride! I have an 8 year old little sister, and a 10 year old brother who has Down Syndrome, and the Pride March and festival are too long, hot, and far away for them to participate. The parks I’ve chosen for the two locations (one in SLC, one in Utah county) have plenty of shade and I bring water (water bowls, too, since well-behaved pets are always welcome!)

Last year, the festivities included: snow cones, kettle corn, chips and soda, plenty of pets, a best-dressed competition, scavenger hunt, dress up booth with nail painting and makeup, free face painting, henna artist, and dance music, of course.

This year I’m doing more competitions, games and trivia. I’ve got a pinata, a playground parachute and LOTS of prizes (including a giant rainbow Squishmallow)! I’ll be doing a photo booth. We’ll also have about 5 local organizations tabling.
