Did the music make you want to mosh, close your eyes and sway, or something in between?
Masked Intruder had people going cah-RAZAY! Their fast pop-punk about girls and broken hearts had people slamming into each other in the mosh pit, and one did kept crowd surfing, literally, over and over again—and the front row of audience members didn't even care. It was time to go ape shit.
How was their stage presence?
Masked Intruder stay in character the whole time with their red, yellow-orange, green and blue robber masks over their faces the entire time they play. Each member has a persona—frontman Blue exudes a Woody Allen–like nerdiness with his glasses and New Jersey–Jew language inflection; Bassist Yellow (aka Orange) is the dumb one. Their acting coupled with the insane energy of the show culminated in an atom-bomb performance.
If you had to murder one band member, who?
The cop. You see, Masked Intruder has a dancer, who is a dude dressed up in a cop costume. His job is to run around and rile people up. He accomplishes this by pushing people and moshing with them. Part of his job is to flip people off, too. He flips off as many people as he can at any given moment, on- or offstage. I imagine that Masked Intruder would kidnap me, as they are robbers, and I'd probably get sick and tired of the cop, even though I think he's cool at the same time.
If this band were an animal, what and why?
Masked Intruder would be a Tasmanian devil. Their songs about girls are "little and cute," but they play their songs with such ferocity that ensues a mania for all around. They strum riffs out like they're running around generating tornadoes all up in this bitch, and their guitar melodies are short, fast and sharp like little, baby Tasmania fangs.
At which bar would this band hang out in SLC?
Mixed Emotions. I think that Masked Intruder have some issues to work out, and they need a place to have band practice … Mixed Emotions is an establishment that's easy to work with to throw birthday parties and shows, and there's tons of space for them to bring the goods that they steal from homes.
