Video Nasty is the latest feature from Heroin Skateboards. Put out by Baker Boys Distribution, the entity is a sister company to Baker and Deathwish Skateboards. With both of the latter companies releasing videos within the last year, there was a good amount of hype leading up to this creation. Fos is the mastermind behind Heroin––he decides who gets on the team and forms the overall image behind the brand. The world premiere of the video was in Los Angeles on the June 26, with shop debuts shortly after. The showing in Salt Lake City was at the BC Surf & Sport in the South Towne Mall.

The video was shown on three different screens on the wall of the shop. It felt more private of an event than The Deathwish Video premiere, which had been held at the Post Theatre. Heroin is the newest board company to be distributed through Baker Boys, and for most people, the video will be their first glimpse of the brand. If you were looking to see someone switch front 360 the Hollywood Sixteen, you came to the wrong video premiere. If you wanted to see handplants, footplants, strange griptape, powerslides and a man in a mask skating barriers—this was the video for you. Gou Miyagi was doing slides on his back and tip-toeing up handrails. Chopper and The Osaka Daggers proved to have their own style of inventiveness, with 720 powerslides and strange stalls where you do a little Irish jig on your board. Deer Man of Dark Woods is a man who knows what he likes. He makes only skating one obstacle interesting, barriers with concrete transition or without—it did not matter to the Deer Man. He had the ender and did not disappoint, his style added to the underground feel of the video.

Video Nasty is a refreshing take on skateboarding. It showed that it does not have to be all about handrails and hucking your carcass down a set of stairs. Skateboarding is about freedom––you can skate whatever you want. No one can tell you that you are good or bad at it, it is purely objective. This video showed the team rider’s different takes on the art of skateboarding. I felt it to be more fun to watch than the average skate video. Overall, the video is a must watch, if you are into creativeness in skateboarding.
