I love a good EP—bands usually take bigger chances, they make interesting choices, and more to the point, there can’t be any filler. NOFX has put out plenty of great EPs over the years (The Longest Line comes to mind). Stoke Extinguisher reaches from many different places that NOFX can go. A great cover of Tony Sly’s “The Shortest Pier” hits all the right marks. “My Step Dad’s a Cop and My Step Mom’s a Domme” brings all the levity that you’d expect. “I Believe in Goddess” is a hardcore track that gets rough and harsh like it’s from the ’80s era of the band. I’m not going to try and convince you to like NOFX—if you’ve been around this music at all, then you know who they are and what they do, but this EP is them doing it at their best. –James Orme
