The Holydrug Couple = Serge Gainsbourg + Air / My Bloody Valentine

Chilean duo The Holydrug Couple is comprised of Ives Sepulveda (guitars, voice, keyboard) and Manuel Parra (drums, percussion). After 2011’s Ancient Land EP and the full-length Noctuary (2013), their latest release on the Sacred Bones label refines their approach to “druggy” music, circa 1970, when it blended with dreamy dance music for the first time. These songs are shimmering and inhabit a blissful space between your ears, but don’t really go anywhere— “French Movie Theme” is an apt title given their cinematic soundscapes and breezy, breathy brilliance. –Stakerized!
