Adventure = The Holidays + Emeralds

As soon as I stepped into Weird Work’s world, I found an immediate juxtaposition. Adventure hit you with beat-box 8-bit synth atop melodic keyboard and bell contributions. This combination of sporadic and steady works surprisingly well. What I initially found as a difficult album to break into has become one of the easiest listens I’m currently enjoying. This album has breathed life into everyday mundane situations around me. I find it difficult to imagine several normal humans dancing to this noise, but the thought of my favorite Nintendo characters pop-and-locking to “Flower” makes total sense. Ultimately, Weird Work is the fruition of an artist unbridled in his own world of sound, and it’s very welcoming to outsiders. –Justin Gallegos
