Man Overboard = Major League + Saves The Day
With a motto like “Defend Pop Punk,” it shouldn’t be surprising when a band like Man Overboard sticks pretty heavily to the formula. Fairly upbeat and lyrically as angsty and frustrated as every pop punk band ever, Heart Attack is an inoffensive and mostly forgettable album. You’ve heard it before, from dozens of other bands, but I don’t wholly mind hearing it again. I particularly like the song “White Lies,” and I find the chorus to be catchy as hell. If you somehow haven’t heard of pop-punk before, Man Overboard may well blow your mind. If you’ve heard it before but you’re not sick of it yet, you can do a hell of a lot worse than these guys. –Matt Brunk
