The Wonder Revolution = múm + Seabear

This is a mossy, muted rainforest of an album, with the tempo of swirling leaves and vocals like wind through the trees. Using the fingerpicking style, guitarist David Lord is able to create a verdant and lush musical landscape without sounding like generic world music or generic singer-songwriter music. Wow is the manifestation of a concept of musical collectiveness, which is audible in the execution and phrasing of the fine-spun instrumentals. In “Breathing With a Butterfly,” you can almost detect the fluttering of delicate wings, while “Pixie Mountain” makes you feel as if you’ve walked into a meadow of flowers. Wow is both visually and emotionally stimulating, not to mention downright beautiful. –Kia McGinnis
