Underground Railroad to Candyland = Ezra Furman + Down in the Dumps

Each two-minute concoction in The People are Home screams old-school pop punk without coming off as kitschy or contrived. Angst is commonly reserved for teenagers, but Underground Railroad to Candyland cast an adult light on a youthful emotion. The lo-fi garage fuzz sounds like it is straight out of live amplification. URTC are the culmination of punk “rager” music. All of the tracks are catchy and melodic, especially “Dead Leg” and the aberrant “Yer Not the Only One.” Danceable rhythms to stomp your feet to are a peppery and delectable way to ride out the summer. –LeAundra Jeffs
