Anne Olsen (she/her/hers) started with SLUG in August 2016 under her initial title and set of responsibilities as the Community Development Assistant. What she enjoys most about working for SLUG is that it serves as a daily reminder for just how cool our city is. Without SLUG, Olsen says that Utah felt like “a conservative prison” after she had moved back to Utah. A while later, however, she found herself picking up a special Beer Issue of SLUG at Coffee Garden, and it was revelatory for her—there was a spotlight on all the amazing creators and contributors around the valley! Considering her passions in sexual and reproductive rights and sociology, Olsen fits perfectly with SLUG, an inclusive and diverse magazine that engages with the community whenever we can in what Anne describes as “a grown-up punky beacon for all the people who need it.”
