As SLUG’s Communications Coordinator, Zaina Abujebarah (she/her/hers) facilitates the planning and implementation of the magazine’s music reviews, as well as a large chunk of online-exclusive content. She reaches out to publicists, labels and other industry professionals and ensures a direct and open line of communication between SLUG and the artists, both local and (inter)national. A longtime fan of music writing, Abujebarah now enjoys being “behind the scenes,” especially the ability she has to give contributors new and exciting writing opportunities they’ve been hoping for. Abujebarah is also a Senior Staff Writer herself, penning many reviews as well as interview features with members from Vamachara and Knocked Loose. Abujebarah is an artist, roller skater and an active member of SLC’s hardcore scene, both as a fan and a musician. Working at SLUG has given her more opportunities to explore the city’s expansive creative community, as she’s always on the lookout for more of Salt Lake’s interesting and talented artists.
