After diving into the sea and succumbing to the depths of depression, a woman gives birth to the physical, genderless personification of her struggles and is called to navigate the new reality, while encountering others burdened by similar creatures, and confront the life-or-death dilemma. In this dialogue between ancient Greek mythology and modern life’s struggles— embodied by characters inspired by the gods of Hesiod’s Theogony—and echoed through contemporary dance storytelling, a live multimedia performance unfolds alongside projected imagery and the marriage of digital and 16mm cinematography. Within this hybrid form lies the need to reimagine anachronistic notions of mental health while grounding these timeless stories firmly in the present.
