Museum of Utah Grand Opening

Museum of Utah Grand Opening
As Utah’s first dedicated state history museum, the Museum of Utah celebrates our unique history, culture, and art through world-class exhibits and programming. As a gateway to Utah’s Capitol Complex, the Museum will engage visitors of all ages, and from all over the world, as they explore Utah’s past and consider their place in shaping Utah’s future. The Museum will feature four primary galleries: Inspiring Utah, Building Utah, Becoming Utah, and Connecting Utah.
The Museum also features temporary exhibition space. The inaugural rotating exhibition, “The Past Is Personal,” urges visitors to consider their role in our nation’s history as we mark 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Drawing upon the Utah Historical Society’s semiquincentennial project, The Peoples of Utah Revisited, this exhibit broadens the lens on Utah’s history and shares the stories of the past through the present. “The Past Is Personal” will be on display through spring 2027.
The Museum of Utah is an extension of the Utah Historical Society, which works to foster curiosity about the past, inform the present, and strengthen our shared future. With the addition of the Museum of Utah, the Historical Society is more visible, integrated, and accessible with a physical presence on Utah’s State Capitol grounds.
