7th Annual Craft Lake City Holiday Market @ Ogden Union Station
Community
This year, the Seventh Annual Craft Lake City Holiday Market was bigger and better than ever. Taking place at the historic Ogden Union Station from Dec. 5-6, the market hosted over 180 local artisans, including crafters, vintage vendors, foodies, performers, youth makers, STEM exhibitors and so much more. It was the perfect way for Northern Utah to ring in the holiday season. Attendees checked items off their holiday wishlist while shopping local in a stunning setting and connecting to the local creative community.
The doors opened on a rainy Friday afternoon, chilly, but the perfect weather to encourage people to come inside and enjoy a cozy atmosphere! Attendees over 21 warmed themselves up at one of the Holiday Market bars, featuring craft drinks and ales from local distillers such as Ogden Beer Company and Sugar House Distillery.
Fun performances played throughout the weekend: classical renditions of holiday classics from Chamber Orchestra Ogden, folksy tunes from The Snarlin’ Yarns, pop-infused melodies by violinist Crista Shoemake, and show-stopping performances from dance groups like Fleet Cooperative.
Friday attendees lucky enough to get there early got to pick up a free tote bag with a unique design from Westfold Design, live screen-printed by the Utah Shirt Co. With so many amazing goods from featured artisans, it was a necessary accessory. And shoppers could even share the spirit of giving by donating to the Holiday Market’s gift drive. Meanwhile, the Indie Game Arcade invited market-goers to play up-and-coming video or board games created by various local game makers. With so many things to see and do, coming back for the second day was a must.
The merriment continued on Saturday. More pleasant weather meant exploring the Holiday Market food truck court and starting the day off with a coffee from Brewtopia while discovering local cuisine. Of course, you can never go wrong with a place titled Best Ever Burger, but for more global tastings, Sobe Eats and Kin Kao Thai were go-tos. Once inside, attendees rushed to take a picture with Santa and head over to Kid Row, finding a wide array of young artisans selling some truly one-of-a-kind crafts. It was definitely the perfect way to spend a holiday weekend.
The Seventh Annual Craft Lake City Holiday Market made shopping local this holiday season an easy and exciting endeavor, and reminded everyone that connecting with the community is what makes the holiday season meaningful.
