Helper En Plein Aire
The Helper En Plein Aire Competition returns to Carbon County this summer in conjunction with the Helper Arts & Music Festival.
Artists will paint for three days “en plein aire” (French for “in the open air” or “outdoors”) in different locations throughout the county, culminating in a reception, gallery show and awards ceremony on Friday evening. The reception is open to the public and begins at 6pm. Artwork can be purchased before the awards announcement, followed by a live auction of the prize-winning paintings.
NEW FOR 2026: Helper Beer Label Award
Nationally recognized and award-winning microbrewery, Helper Beer, will select a painting to be used as a label for a special edition, top-selling beer can.
On Saturday, participating artists will venture out into a defined downtown area to create a “quick” 2-hour painting. The public will be able to watch them paint, followed by a silent auction from 12-2 p.m. where paintings can be purchased.
It is a great opportunity to buy a piece of art at an affordable price.
