Pantera @ Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre 08.20.2025

Concert

On August 20, Pantera brought their “Heaviest Tour of the Summer!” to the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre in West Valley City, delivering a blistering performance that left metalheads buzzing. With Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown joined by Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante, the band honored the legacy of Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul while proving their enduring ferocity.

The night kicked off with Amon Amarth, whose Viking-themed death metal set the tone with crushing riffs and theatrical energy. By the time Pantera hit the stage, the crowd was primed. Opening with “Hellbound,” the band unleashed a relentless assault, blending classics like “Cowboys from Hell” and “Walk” with deeper cuts like “10’s,” performed live for the first time since their 2022 reunion. Anselmo’s vocals were raw and commanding, while Wylde’s guitar work channeled Dimebag’s spirit with searing precision. Benante’s drumming was thunderous, and Brown’s basslines rattled bones.

The amphitheater’s open-air setting amplified the raw power of Pantera’s sound, though some fans noted occasional syncing issues, possibly due to the band’s high-energy delivery. The crowd was electric, with mosh pits erupting and horns raised high, though a few X posts mentioned an overly aggressive pit that sent one fan to the ER. Despite this, the tribute to Darrell and Paul was heartfelt, with visuals and Anselmo’s emotional remarks resonating deeply.

The show was a triumphant celebration of Pantera’s legacy, leaving fans headbanging into the night. A must-see for any metal enthusiast.
