MAZZA MEDIA & INDUSTRY DINNER 05.19 @ 9th & 9th Mazza

This past Sunday, Mazza hosted a private event with special dishes not normally found on their menu. Beginning at 6 p.m., the evening was made even more beautiful by the 9th and 9th location’s décor at dusk—Owner Ali Sabbah, I learned, has collected all of the lavish adornment from Lebanon, and even pieced together the elegant liquor cabinet piece by piece. The sun glinting off of the copper pillars created a gorgeous environment to enjoy specialty Middle Eastern food. … read more

Black Moth Super Rainbow @ Urban Lounge 05.18 with Oscillator Bug, The Hood Internet

The Hood Internet duo.

Thursday night, black-clad fans from all over the state waited anxiously in a line that stretched almost a full city block to be patted down and herded into In The Venue. This was gearing up to be a crazy night, and rightly so. It’s been a long while since the legendary Lamb of God has stopped in our fair city, and even longer for supporting act Decapitated, whose last show here was in a dinky bowling alley. I was surprised when LOG announced a headlining tour, and then elated to find out they were stopping in SLC. … read more

Anamanaguchi: A Room Full of Misfits

Anamanaguchi band members.

The Brooklyn-based instrumental band Anamanaguchi has risen to Internet fame over the past few years with their retro video game style sound, and garnered even more attention after performing the soundtrack for the Scott Pilgrim vs. the World video game. Last month, the band released their first official full-length album, Endless Fantasy, and has embarked on a tour to support the album. Before their stop in SLC at the Shred Shed on June 1, SLUG spoke with drummer Luke Silas while the band was on the road. … read more
