October 6, 2011- Occupy Wall Street gains traction across the country and onto the streets of Salt Lake. (All photos and text by Russel Albert Daniels.)
Braving the rain and cold, over 200 hundred Occupy SLC demonstrators gathered at the State Capitol. The vociferous assembly marched through Salt Lake's banking center stopping to demonstrate in front of the Federal Reserve Building, Chase bank, Wells Fargo, CBS News and then onto Pioneer Park where they began setting up a base camp. The crowd swelled to about 1,000 peaceful demonstrators.
According to the organizers, Occupy SLC marches in solidarity with the tens of thousands of protestors on Wall Street and around the country as part of a national movement against economic inequality and the business practices of Wall Street and the government. Organizers said they will occupy Pioneer Park and hold demonstrations until they are recognized and their demands met.
