Title: SLUG Videographer
Department: Editorial
Reports to: Communications Coordinator, Editorial Assistant, Junior Editor, Executive Editor
Commitment: This is a volunteer position that requires availability on a flexible, as-needed basis for SLUG events and editorial projects
Responsibilities:
- Ideate, shoot, edit and produce impactful video content
- Collaborate with subject matter consultants and SLUG staff to evaluate and plan productions
- Ability to shoot events, promotional and b-roll footage
- Ensure lighting positions, sound enhancements and proper recording equipment are in place
- Edit all audio and visuals including transitions, graphics, lower thirds, titles and color correction
- Responsible for equipment including all camera, lighting, audio, editing hardware and software
- Post professional video footage on SLUG social media accounts
- Help maintain our team culture and uphold our values in creative ways
- Regularly check email, texts and other communication platforms to address any time-sensitive items
Qualifications:
- SLUG Magazine reader
- Strong understanding of SLUG Magazine’s brand
- Passion for the SLC local scene and elevating Utah’s creative culture
- Working towards a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications/Video Production OR relevant experience performing described duties
- Experience with Google Suite, Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro X or After Effects
- Thorough understanding of and ability to use basic video production equipment
- Keen knowledge of artistic styles, techniques, methodologies and effects used in professional video production
- Meets deadlines and upholds commitments
- Strong communication skills
- Reliable and exhibits attention to detail
- Quick learner and adaptable
- Maturity and ability to professionally represent SLUG Magazine
