Bill Burr = Louis C.K. + alcohol and rage

It’s always a special moment for a standup comedian when they can play the best house in the city. For most comedians, when you’re in NYC, there are two to strive for: Madison Square Garden and Carnegie Hall. Bill Burr scratched the second one off his list and created what was one of his finest performances to date back in November 2011. Not to leave that comedy gold alone, Burr took the audio to Third Man Records and produced this album.

While the bits are funny, blending dealing with alcoholics, gold-digging women and the problems with lotion, you can tell you’re not getting the full performance as bits have been cleverly pieced together. Thankfully, that’s the only problem holding this album back as you get to hear a lot of material being worked out before it ended up on his 2012 TV special. –Melody Marvel
