Competitors from all over the United States came to Salt Lake City for the Redbull Dance Your Style qualifiers, fighting for the chance to go the southern regionals in Houston, Texas and ultimately end up in the finals in Zurich, Switzerland.

There were all different styles of hip hop break dancing that were represented in this competition, including locking, breaking and even tap dancing! The 67 dancers were throwing spins and hand plants to keep the crowd entertained. Every dancer was dressed to the nines in jump suits, jerseys and JNCOs with their own unique styles to impress the judges and crowd.

The top dancers made it into the semi-finals with two one-minute battles against each other. The crowd decided the winner by wrist lights that were handed out, which would turn either red or blue, representing each dancer from their corner of the mat.

The one-on-one battles came down to the finalists Hyrum from Salt Lake and Celeste Mirra from Houston, trying to outdo each other to impress the crowd. Hyrum’s speciality is locking, and it got the crowd on their feet. Mirra, aka “Surge,” blew everyone’s minds by throwing a flawless with helicopter spins, splits and moves to look like she was dodging bullets from the movie The Matrix. The crowd went nuts over her final dance to the song “Get Low” by Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz. In the end, all the dancers showed gratitude to each other and paid their respects to a great night of dancing.
