Last week, the fine folks of Salt Lake Comic Con popped into The Leonardo for an official press conference to announce plans for September. Not more than a few weeks after capping off one of the largest conventions in the country with April’s FanXperience at The Salt Palace. Brought in with several costumed characters, including a Boba Fett and a legion of Stormtroopers, Con co-creators Bryan Brandenburg and Dan Farr stepped up to the podium for the first big guest star announcements and a brief Q&A.

The first names on what is already looking to be an impressive Con this September were Christopher Lloyd (Back To The Future trilogy, Clue), Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters, The Crow), Carey Elwes (The Princess Bride, Robin Hood: Men In Tights), John Barrowman (Torchwood, Arrow), Sam Witwer (Battlestar Galactica, Being Human) and Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Xena: Warrior Princess). The duo then fielded many questions from the Utah press, addressing concerns from the last event and inquiring about future plans in store for this September.

Of course the big news that landed today was that Comic Con will be holding a Parade in downtown SLC, most likely slated for Saturday, September 6, marking the final day of the convention. We got a chance to talk with co-founder Dan Farr briefly about a few of the topics after last week’s press conference, as well as how the current plans are coming along.

SLUG: What made you choose The Leo for this week’s conference? Will you be doing more with them leading up to and during the Con?
Dan: We have done stuff in the past including press conferences. They provide us with the space for free as a partner and will be doing more with them as it comes up in the future.

SLUG: FanX ended just a month ago and you already have names announced for September. Was this a wish-list leftover from FanX, or was this an entirely different plan for Comic Con?
Dan: A lot of the effort put forth set the stage for this group. We did start this with people inquiring abut FanX, not all of them though.
