Juan Wauters = The Beets + Jaime Roos
Juan Wauters returns with another indie-pop, folk beat album, Who Me, and to my surprise, it’s infectiously good. The overall up-tempo nature of Wauters’ material, like “Todo Terminó,” makes this an engaging listen and a fun addition to his seemingly expanding repertoire.
Who Me shows that Wauters has greatly improved musically, and his vocals carry on with a certain no-ticeable, confident enthusiasm that he exemplifies in numbers like “Woodside, Queens,” and the two numbers “En Mi” and “Así No Más,” which he sings in Spanish. Other notable tunes worth a mention are the groovy “I’m All Wrong” and “Through the Red.” This is very much worth spinning. It’s relaxing, but it’s something to pay attention to. –Nick Kuzmack
