Local Review: Toob Top Shakur – Live Demo

Posted on April 16, 2005 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Toob Top Shakur Live Demo Toob Top Shakur = Circle Jerks + Sonic Youth Convincing old-school punk rock post-2000 never sounded so 1982. Toob Top Shakur from Fort Collins is as wild and dangerous as Michael Jackson let loose on the set of Romper Room when the TV cameras aren’t running. Or maybe when they

Local Review: Thunderfist – Too Fat for Love

Posted on February 21, 2007 (January 28, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Thunderfist Too Fat for Love ECG Street: 01.2007 Thunderfist = Lemmy + Spork + 1,000 cases of PBR Legendary scene vets Thunderfist know how to write hard-rockin’ anthems for the wild ones; tight as a snail’s ass and twice as raunchy. After nearly a decade of putting out albums that would give the Supersuckers a

Eastfield

This Is My Airport In D A. Star Recordings Street: 12.05 TIMA = Space Needle + Bob Dylan + John Cage + winter Those kids at A. Star Recordings know what is going on. Just when you think blues is completely played out, along comes a recording such as In D. An obvious play on

Local Review: Tri-Polar Bear – The Hibernation EP

Posted on July 2, 2013 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

The EP’s got me looking forward to their future endeavors, so give it a listen, and see if it tickles your fancy, too. … read more

Local Review: Turned to Stone – The Memory I’ve Become

Posted on October 30, 2013 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

This is a beautiful EP by one of the valley’s most exciting melodic death metal acts, in the opinion of this humble critic. … read more

Local Review: Ulteriors – Self-Titled

Posted on December 4, 2013 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

With subjects ranging from politics, religion, war and corporate control, Ulteriors have taken heed to the classic punk rock sound, both lyrically and musically as they so proclaim. … read more

Local Review: Twilight Transmissions – Shadowland

Posted on February 6, 2014 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Beyond the visual aesthetics, this album fares quite well. It’s a well-textured series of electronic soundscapes and beats that would not sound out of place accompanying a modern horror film, game, or a walk through a haunted hospital.

Local Review: Untytled – Winter

Posted on March 6, 2014 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

I’ve got my wine, I’ve got my Untytled album and now all I need is a fat spliff. In all seriousness though, this album is superb to chill out to (or can easily be used to wallow in a cesspool of seasonal self-deprecation, I quickly found). … read more

Local Review: Tom Bennett – The Man Who Shook the Trail of the Devil’s Hounds

Posted on March 6, 2014 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

From start to finish, the most powerful word I’ve found to describe Devil’s Hounds is “honest.” The beginning of this album focuses specifically on one man’s experience of, possibly, his favorite place on earth: Salt Lake City. … read more

Local Review: Tiger Fang – Endangered

Posted on July 29, 2014 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

This album is what it sounds like to pound a 12-pack of Pabst by yourself, jump around on your bed shredding on air guitar until you get sick and puke into a pile of week-old laundry, and knock over your foot-tall bong because you were too busy headbanging to pay attention to anything but the music. … read more

Local Review: Tupelo Moan – Cocaine and Chicken Grease

Posted on September 3, 2014 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Fuck yeah! No, seriously, I said, “Fuck yeah,” every 20 seconds the first time through this album. I tried to find both of the items listed in the album title to get the full effect. … read more

Local Review: Twilight Transmissions – Temple Of Abandonment

Posted on September 3, 2014 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Local musician Christopher Alvarado is on a creative binge lately and just keeps pumping out quality ambient pieces, this time alongside Jeff Duke. This is not as calming as what we are used to hearing from him, as it is a haunting release that has you envisioning the conflicts of an insane mind. … read more
