![“My dad had us grow up in L.A. And at that time in the late '80s, he was really into metal, just like Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult and stuff like that,” says Guzman. “So I always grew up in this weird little metal [music] household. And then all of a sudden, when I grew older, I was like, 'Oh, I've got to cut my hair and be part of society.' And I thought, No, fuck that.”](https://www.slugmag.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/SLUG-Style-Carlos-Guzman-Clancycoop_4-266x400.jpg)
![“I like to have fun. That's how I dress as well, too. It's just a lot of rock n' roll influence. A lot of rollerbladers actually [influence me]. A lot of my big heroes and I kind of emulate them,” says Guzman. “Same with, like, Metallica back in the late '80s. Same style, you know—white sneakers with the cutoff black tees and skinny jeans. It's simple, but it's effective.”](https://www.slugmag.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/SLUG-Style-Carlos-Guzman-Clancycoop_7-266x400.jpg)
![“[My first camera] was a Canon FTb that I found in, like, American Fork, just at this shop, 40 bucks for that,” says Guzman. “And then the next camera I got was that Canon AE-1 Program.”](https://www.slugmag.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/SLUG-Style-Carlos-Guzman-Clancycoop_3-266x400.jpg)
