Art and Fashion
Sharese Taylor is a tattoo artist. She was recently a finalist in a competition to be on the cover of Inked Magazine.
Special thanks to Good Times Tattoo, who hosted this month’s SLUG Style in their space.
Every month, SLUG Style features a distinct and unique member of the community and asks them why they do what they do. Exploring more than just clothing, SLUG Style is an attempt to feature the people who give Salt Lake City flavor through personality and panache.
![“I’m in the quarter final section to be the Inked Magazine cover girl,” says Taylor. “The winner gets [to be on the] cover of Inked Magazine and a cash prize, which is really cool. I've just been trying to push myself to step outside of my comfort zone to help myself grow. And that's scary.”](https://www.slugmag.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/SLUG_-Style_Sharese_Clancycoop_4-266x400.jpg)
![About her time at Good Times Tattoo, Taylor says, “March 31st is actually my two year 'tattaversary,' and then the end of May, beginning of June [I celebrate] three years here. So I had a year as an apprentice, and then I've been tattooing full-time for two years since then.”](https://www.slugmag.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/SLUG_-Style_Sharese_Clancycoop_6-266x400.jpg)
![“I got tattooed as soon as I moved out of my parents' house. I was 19 after graduating high school,” says Taylor. “They weren't super [in favor of] tattoos growing up and stuff like that. I was raised in a pretty conservative family. But ever since I was in third grade, I thought tattoos were the coolest. My senior year of high school, I spent solely drawing on my classmates. So I've wanted to do it for a very long time.”](https://www.slugmag.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/SLUG_-Style_Sharese_Clancycoop_7-266x400.jpg)
