Paws on the Patio
Beer & Spirits
You’re out with your dog and you get a hankering… but why would you want to leave your best friend behind? Here are a few bars and restaurants where you and your dog can sit together.
*Please note: your dog is required to wear a collar displaying a current city license and rabies vaccination tag. Dogs must stay on a leash, cannot have contact with dishes and utensils, cannot sit on chairs or tables and cannot be fed (even dog treats). You can also check the official list of approved dog patios here.
Real Taqueria
Family-founded with love and authentic Zacatecas cuisine, Real Taqueria is a local restaurant in Holladay that combines passion for food with helping immigrants in the nearby community. All the food is made from scratch from local ingredients. Their dog-friendly outdoor patio is hung with colorful ribbons and lights, the superb decor of the interior extending outside. The atmosphere is completely welcoming so that guests will feel like they’re part of the family.
Gourmandise
If you’re in need of a beautiful brunch or delicious dessert, why shouldn’t you bring your dog with you? Focused on sharing European desserts, gorgeous craftsmanship and a warm environment, Gourmandise is a welcoming family-owned bakery and cafe. Their locations in Salt Lake City and Draper host patio space for you and your friends, both human and canine, with shady red awnings to keep off the summer sun.

A Bar Named Sue
Located on Highland Drive in Millcreek, A Bar Named Sue is a comfortable neighborhood sports bar. Their food mission is simple: be delicious and affordable. They host live music twice a week and provide a plethora of games and dartboards, a jukebox and a patio where your dog can join you and your friends in kicking back and having fun while sipping your drinks. If you’ve ever sat in a sports bar and wished your dog could be there beside you, check this place out.
Neighbors Bar
A small and intentional bar built by a close group of friends, Neighbors Bar has something for everyone, which includes an outdoor patio for the dogs! They are so appreciated that the specialty cocktails on the current Dog Days of Summer menu are named after beloved pets. The bar also describes itself as “a little bit Taiwanese,” so the bites available alongside the drinks include Braised Tofu & Edamame, Pork & Shrimp Wontons and more on its Night Market menu.
Skillets
One of Salt Lake City’s favorite brunch spots, Skillets is a Venezuelan-American restaurant with both a cozy indoor space and a big enclosed outdoor patio with lots of seating and tables. And guess what? You can bring your best dog friend! If you’re out on a walk down 900 South one morning and your stomach starts grumbling, there’s no need to drop your dog off at home. They can sit beside you while you feast on a breakfast burrito or share a brunchy Tower for Two with another human.
Scion Cider
Nestled in the heart of Central 9th, Scion Cider is a cider-focused bar with over 225 ciders! They also have beer, wine, cider-centric cocktails and a rotating snack menu featuring charcuterie, olives, focaccia and other tasteful bites. There are a host of delicious local restaurants nearby, and outside food is welcome — and so is your dog! Sip your choice of delicious naturally-gluten-free apple alcohol and sit among your favorite humans and dogs in the golden torchlight of the patio.
Feldman’s Deli
Known as the best authentic Jewish cuisine in Salt Lake City, Feldman’s Deli has a menu full of delicious cold-cut and grilled sandwiches, bagels and schmear, salads, breakfast plates, desserts and more. And guess what? They also have a dog-friendly patio! You won’t be the only one whose mouth is watering as you bite into your perfectly-made Reuben. Alas, you probably shouldn’t share any corned beef with your dog even though it’s amazing.
HK Brewing
Woman-owned and cocktail-forward, HK Brewing Collective Taproom & Bar not only serves craft drinks and brews their signature Hans Kombucha but also hosts community events and markets in their warm and vibrant space. And what community is complete without humanity’s most important friends? Dogs are welcome on the outdoor patio with their owners. Enjoy a kombucha cocktail and a welcoming atmosphere with your dog at your side.
Handle Bar
This local Marmalade bar mixes a three-way pun of mustaches, bicycles and beer into their name, and they also have a great selection of food and drinks, plant-based options and a year-round patio! Live music and trivia nights add extra entertainment. Whether you pop by this summer for a cold beverage under the umbrella shade, or if you walk in during a blizzard of snow this winter (hopefully), there’s no need to leave your dog behind at the Handle Bar.
Tea Zaanti
Salt Lake City’s favorite tea shop doubles as a wine cafe, a more relaxed alternative to going to the bar. Tea Zaanti’s green-shaded outdoor patio is award-winning and dog-friendly, a cozy and laidback space where you can relax with your selection of loose-leaf tea, coffee, wine or a hit-the-spot specialty toast for brunch. Located in one of the coziest areas of the city along 1100 East, passersby walking their dogs are easily drawn into the peaceful vibes to sit for a spell.
Atomic Biscuit
The word of Atomic Biscuit’s southern comfort food has been spreading around Salt Lake City since it opened at the end of 2024. You and your dog are welcome on the patio for breakfast and brunch, with made-from-scratch biscuits and a homecooked, comforting vibe focused on gathering the community. It also sits on the corner of 400 E and 900 S, which makes it another perfect spot to stop by when you and your dog are walking 9th on a sunny morning.
The Brickyard Bar
Voted as Salt Lake City’s best sports bar for three years in a row, The Brickyard Bar sits on Highland Drive in Millcreek and has a large patio space — dogs allowed! Whether you’re there for a relaxing brunch on Saturdays and Sundays or if you’re gathering to watch the latest Utes game with your friends, be sure not to leave out your dog friends. They deserve to share in the effervescence of the moment, too — though they shouldn’t have any beer.
The Rose Establishment
The Rose Establishment is known for its high-quality food and beautiful aesthetic — and its lovely, greenery-drenched outdoor patio/porch space is not limited to humans. While you enjoy a meal from their seasonal menu and a beautifully crafted latte or cappuccino, your dog will delight in the cooling breeze filtering through the leaves as they lay contentedly by your feet.

The Bambino
A family-owned and -operated pizzeria in Midvale, The Bambino is a welcoming space for families and friends to gather — and that includes all the bambinos, even the canine ones. Guests tend to linger like they’re neighbors over for dinner instead of customers at a restaurant, in no hurry to leave the table with stomachs full of delicious food. That’s the feeling of nostalgia and friendship The Bambino is going for, and it’s not friendship without your best dog friend on the patio.
Hopkins Brewing Company
Hopkins’ craft beer and fresh food summon you to Sugar House. Their fine brews are the main attraction, but they also host a slew of events every week, and one of the staples is their live jazz jams. Their outdoor patio is hung with lights and vines for you and your dog to enjoy as evening falls. The only downside is that live jazz night happens inside, so your dog will have to tilt their ears to the strains of glorious music seeping through the door.
Root’d Cafe
Nestled in the curve of Bengal Boulevard in Cottonwood Heights, Root’d Cafe is a great place to stop for coffee and/or brunch in the morning, whether you’ll be spending your day in the nearby canyons or not. They’re also open for lunch and dinner, and they focus on providing their customers with fresh food and community. Their screened patio is dog-friendly and plant-filled, available for all seasons and all meal times.
Ice Haus
German-inspired flavors meet American comfort food at Ice Haus, a gastropub in Murray filled with events and entertainment. Their large, enclosed, outdoor patio has lots of seating space and room for your dog to hang out with you while you bite into a hearty burger or pretzel and sip a German beer. They also have a plant-based menu, brunch and German Chocolate Cake to end your evening (or morning, if you’re doing dessert for brunch).
Caputo’s
Salt Lake City’s beloved Caputo’s is a local staple for a reason, and their 15th and 15th location has a shady patio where — after a quick grocery spree, of course — you can sit with your dog and munch on a delicious Caputo’s sandwich or salad before continuing on your merry way down 15th East — back to your home to cook something of your own with all the superb specialty ingredients you just got.
Cucina Wine Bar
The Avenues’ Cucina Wine Bar (and deli) serves a seasonal menu of small plates and curated wine. Their tasteful outdoor patio allows dogs to join their humans beneath the pea-green umbrellas: great food and great wine and great company in the form of your beloved best friend. The atmosphere of the Avenues adds to the experience, and so do the live music events and hanging lights.
Templin Family Brewing
Enjoy a locally-brewed lager beer at Templin Family Brewing, but don’t do it alone! Their outdoor patio is shaded with canopies and umbrellas, lit with glittering lights at night and is completely dog-friendly with wooden tables in a large gravel area. As you choose your beer, you can also try whatever food truck has parked nearby for the evening. You might also find your way into a community event such as SLC Chess Club or watercolor night.
Hash Kitchen
You’ve had brunch, but have you had brunch with a build-your-own bloody Mary bar, a build-your-own donut bar and local live DJs on the weekends? Founded in Arizona, Hash Kitchen’s Draper location has an unforgettable, lively atmosphere. You and your dog will enjoy the sunny energy on the patio and will certainly be awoken by both the amazing brunch food and the loud, celebratory vibes.
Melancholy
The atmosphere of Melancholy extends to their new dog patio. Lounge in the evening with your wine or cocktail in hand and your loyal pooch at your side like a tortured artist contemplating the depths of your soul. Melancholy holds community events of all kinds, including the book-and-wine club Books Take Flight and live jazz on the patio. The place is drenched in mood and aesthetic, and I’m pretty sure your dog will appreciate it as much as you will.

The Watershed Pub and Kitchen
Once The Midway Bar & Grill, The Watershed Pub and Kitchen is back with gluten-free and plant-based options, a brunch menu and a spacious, covered patio with misters and fire pits. In other words, it is the perfect place to relax in the summer! If you and your dog have been out in the sun all day and need a cold drink and a shady spot under the misters, stop in here. I can practically see your dog’s happy tongue-lolling-out face as they plop down beside you on the patio.
The Park Cafe
Right across the way from the southern end of Liberty Park is The Park Cafe, one of Salt Lake City’s most popular breakfast spots. One day, you and your dog might be walking the encircling path of Liberty Park and catch sight (or smell) of The Park Cafe ahead. Rest assured, you would both be welcome to stop by their dog-friendly outdoor patio for some of the best breakfast food in the city.
Fisher Brewing Company
Another local business beloved to Salt Lake City, Fisher Brewing Company is one of Utah’s oldest breweries (since 1884). They offer their iconic fresh beer, wine and cocktails in their taproom and on their dog-friendly patio. A different food truck pulls up every day to offer culinary accompaniment to your pint. If you and your dog are strolling the Granary district and find yourselves in need of a rest, walk up the steps and enjoy a Utah classic.
Localz Bistro
Sandy’s Localz Bistro is a casual family-owned restaurant focused on a home-cooked feel. What’s home without your dog? Feast on a variety of different kinds of comfort food from the menu as you sit on the dog-friendly patio, your trusty pup at your side as you enjoy the lively atmosphere. By the end of your visit, your stomach will be full, and your heart will be content.
Epic Brewing Company
Located on State Street, Epic Brewing Company has small-batch beer all the time, paninis for lunch and space for your dog to hang out with you! They’re also hosting live music and food trucks all summer, so all the action will be outside by the patio instead of inside at the bar — your dog won’t be bored, and neither will you. Don’t miss out!
Black Sheep Bar & Grill
Both locations of your friendly neighborhood Black Sheep Bar & Grill boast dog-friendly patios. Events and entertainment fill the evenings — trivia, bingo, pool, open mics and more. Don’t leave your dear old dog out of the fun! Depending on their breed, they may be disappointed that there are no actual sheep around for them to herd, but I’m sure they’ll still appreciate hanging out with you on the patio instead of being sad at home.
Emigration Cafe
A local all-day cafe focused on celebrating the community, Emigration Cafe has a dog-friendly patio where you can sit with your pup while you eat and laugh with your neighbors. The menu is seasonal, and the fresh food and drinks come from local farms, distilleries and breweries. Emigration Cafe is a good balance between casual and fancy, an accessible neighborhood spot to relax and enjoy the best of what the community has to offer.
Uinta Brewhouse Pub
Taste the careful concoctions of Uinta Brewing Co. right at the source on the West side of Salt Lake City, and take your dearest dog with you to hang out on the patio. The atmosphere is casual, the beer is delicately crafted and there’s a full kitchen bringing you pub fare to go with the star of the show… your dog. (I’m kidding. It’s the beer. It’s the Uinta Brewing Co. beer.)
Bout Time Grub & Pub
If you and your dog have a taste for sports and hot wings (though you probably shouldn’t toss a hot wing into your dog’s gaping mouth in a public food space, no matter how happy they would be), Bout Time Grub & Pub is the perfect spot for you. The locations in Draper and Sandy have patios where you and your dog can sit and watch the game. Large entrees accompany a variety of drinks. Feast!

Taqueria 27
Taqueria 27 is a locally-owned Mexican restaurant with many locations all around the valley, each with its own unique daily specials and food with both traditional and nontraditional flavors. Their menu is kid-friendly and also has lots of gluten-free options. Dogs are welcome on their umbrella-shaded patios so they can lounge happily by your feet while you munch on the tacos of the day and sip a refreshing jamaica or margarita.
Harbor Seafood & Steak
Believe it or not, you can get fresh seafood in Utah, and your dog can sit on the patio of Harbor Seafood & Steak and be a part of the high-end dining experience (even if they cannot partake). Indulge in gorgeous plates of halibut and scallops, sip a delicious drink of your choice and savor the taste of the sea so far from the shore. Save this one for a special fancy occasion, folks.
The Break Sports Grill
The Break is a classic sports grill, perfect for all the dudes (and not-dudes) craving a great night out full of comfort food, sports on the screens, bingo and poker games — and at the Murray location, dogs! Let your dog tag along with you and your friends and hang out on the patio. Take your mind off your troubles and maybe participate in some beer pong, but don’t let your dog chase the ball.
Mountain West Hard Cider
Adventurers of all kinds are welcome as customers of Mountain West Hard Cider, especially those who greatly appreciate Utah’s outdoors because they’re dogs and they just know so much more about adventure than we humans. Local ingredients combine to make phenomenal craft cider, and the calendar is full of fun events to attend while you sip it. Take your favorite adventure buddy with you to the cidery patio!

The atmosphere is comfortable and casual, a great place for a chill breakfast with your human and dog friends.

Second Summit Hard Cider also holds events filled with music, movies and more. So many games and healthy activities — why wouldn’t you want your dog with you? Get off your phone and visit this woman-owned business fostering a joyful, active community.
Log Haven
A peaceful retreat from the bustle of the city, Log Haven is known as Utah’s “most romantic restaurant.” And if your idea of romance includes your dog third-wheeling, you’re welcome to bring them along on your secluded date to the patio. This place is meant for special occasions and celebrations with its unforgettable fine-dining experience and beautiful location, so your dog should be honored to attend.
Squatters Pubs
One of Utah’s longest-running establishments (ongoing since Prohibition ended), Squatters Pubs has three locations with dog-friendly patios all over the valley — Squatters Corner Pub on Constitution Boulevard in West Valley, Squatters Pub Brewery on Broadway in Salt Lake City and Squatters Brewpub on Highland Drive in Sugar House. Take your dog along with you and learn some state history over eclectic food and craft beers.

The Cotton Bottom
The Cotton Bottom is located on Holladay Boulevard, close to the mountains. They’re known for their insanely delicious Garlic Cheese Burger, the perfect meal to grab after a hike or a long, sunny walk. Sitting on their large patio surrounded by big trees, eating your fries and sipping your drink, you’ll feel like you’re still out in nature. Your dog will appreciate hanging out with you in the leafy shade with the pleasant breeze in their ears.
The Garage Grill
The Draper location of Utah’s car-themed restaurant has a dog-friendly patio! Take your favorite car enthusiast and their best dog friend along for some hearty brunch, burgers, sushi and of course cars all over the place. Dogs love cars, especially with the windows rolled down, so I feel like they might really enjoy discovering The Garage Grill with you.
Engine Room Pub & Bistro
Great food combined with atmosphere makes a restaurant, and it’s even better when your dog can be there with you. Engine Room Pub & Bistro has stunning plates of delicious food, signature craft cocktails, all the vibes (slightly steampunk) and a dog-friendly patio. You’re there for the experience as much as the food, and your dog deserves to be a part of it!
Canyons Edge Pub
A neighborhood sports pub perfect for local sports enthusiasts, Canyons Edge Pub is open seven days a week for you and all your game-watching needs. Their burgers have rave reviews, the atmosphere is friendly and buzzing with warmth and the patio allows dogs! The pub is nestled at the base of the Cottonwood canyons, so it’s a great spot to stop after a day of hiking in the mountains. Alas, if only dogs were allowed in the Cottonwoods!
Johnny’s SLC
Johnny’s is known as Salt Lake City’s most welcoming pub. They’re all about bringing together all different kinds of people — locals, visitors, longtime customers, newcomers, all the people who call the city home. And you know what? That includes dogs. Level Crossing Brewing
Another local brewery, another dog-friendly patio! The South Salt Lake location of Level Crossing Brewing hosts live music on the outdoor patio, so you and your dog can enjoy some tunes together in the golden evening sun. Not only does Level Crossing Brewing serve its excellently crafted beers, but you can make it pie-and-beer with a serving of wood-fired pizza. Pie-and-beer is for humans only, I’m afraid. Sorry, doggies.
