Local Review: Ready The Rockets – Self-Titled

Posted on September 4, 2013 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Ready The Rockets Self-Titled Self-Released Street: 04.21 Ready The Rockets = Screaming Trees + R.E.M. + Pearl Jam   This six-song release is concise and nicely executed. The musicians that comprise Ready The Rockets each contribute their instrument well and the vocals complete the material nicely. Overall, the album seems to be a nod to

Local Review: Reaper The Storyteller – Trilogy

Posted on September 4, 2013 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Reaper the Storyteller Trilogy Self-Released Street: 05.11 Reaper the Storyteller = Outkast + The Roots + 2pac   The mantra that Reaper the Storyteller imposes on himself is no lie. His subject matter is the stuff of true substance. Oftentimes, hip hop focuses on inflating the ego, smoking dank weed and fucking mad bitches. The

Local Review: Replica Mine – A Ghost In The Womb

Posted on October 30, 2013 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Part 1: Acceptance begins softly and sweetly, with a simple guitar riff and some breathy vocals. Things quickly evolve with electronic details and effects that give a definite ’80s synthpop kind of feel. … read more

Local Review: Riksha – Dream Drops Red

Posted on December 31, 2013 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Riksha plays heavy, hard, shiny metal, and their new release, Dream Drops Red, is a neatly executed album of exactly that. The music is loud, mean and beautiful. … read more

Local Review: Rise In Style – Self-Titled

Posted on April 30, 2014 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

This six-song album has notes borrowed from a variety of alternative rockers. Opener “Do Away” is a hopeful anthem that strokes the edge of Angels and Airwaves without the excessive reverb. “Revival” has a post-hardcore, At the Drive-In feel, though without as much edge. … read more

Local Review: Regurgitated – Pieces

Posted on June 4, 2014 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Regurgitated is only a one-man project (though he’s assisted by session musician Adrian Gallegos), which is surprising, because with my time spent listening to Pieces, it almost sounds like I’m listening to a full band. … read more

Local Review: Richard Tyler Epperson – Hourglass

Posted on June 4, 2014 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Local Review: Replica Mine – Three Noble Truths

Posted on October 1, 2014 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

This album is split into three parts: Existence, Cause and Cessation. Incorporating both industrial and earthy sounds, Adam Harmon creates a rich and eclectic texture. The vocals have the grungy, distorted edge of the early ’90s, which contrast the earthy tones of the guitar and bass. … read more

Local Review: Ossatura – Self-Titled

Posted on July 3, 2015 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt
Ossatura – Self-Titled

Ossatura Self-Titled Self-Released Street: 03.13 Ossatura = Motionless In White + Iron Maiden Ossatura’s self-released, self-titled EP is the epitome of bad production wrecking an otherwise good album. Musically, with what they are trying to accomplish, they have all the trademarks needed to be a good representative of their sound, which is a somewhat melodically
