Chaidi Brooki and her younger brother Kenny come together to create the genre-shapeshifting band Chaidi. Coming from a long line of singers in the family, the pair grew up singing and knew they had to make music from a young age. Some of their earliest influences were hip-hop, but they were exposed to the indie rock scene after moving to Arizona. Over the years, this brother-sister duo has taken on many projects and collaborated with many artists, but have recently returned to what they say is the purest form of their band: just the two of them, without any of that “other noise.” On this episode of SLUG Soundwaves, Chaidi discusses the savage elements of girlhood and the value of asking why.
