Episode #513: Lesser Moose

/

Meet Lesser Moose, the Salt Lake City jam band taking you on the scenic route through outer space. Born out of a community music night, a mom and son’s inside joke about a taxidermied, so-called “least weasel,” and a beloved dog named Moose, this eclectic group of musicians and friends blends psych-rock, jazz fusion and soul into one gloriously unpredictable groove that never slows down. Inspired by legends like Stevie Wonder, King Glizzard, Snarky Puppy, and the Philadelphia Soul Sound of the 70s, you’ll see them live — in fact, all of the recordings you’ll hear in this episode are live — and you’ll hear these “greats,” along with some greats in the making, because you’ll never hear the same song the same way twice! That’s the magic of Lesser Moose: from the band’s constant improvisation to their shared desire to be “a little out there,” this crew is ambitious by nature — and maybe one day, because of that drive, they’ll become their truest form: “greater Moose, or even greatest Moose.” Or maybe even just “Moose.” So stick around for this truly collaborative team that seems to only uplift each other, because I have a feeling their future is anything but small, because their music certainly isn’t!
