Review: Fairlight Children – 808 Bit

Posted on November 2, 2004 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

FAIRLIGHT CHILDREN 808 BIT SPV 5/5 I honestly was not going to review this CD because, first of all, I’m still a little shy about admitting my newfound love for Apoptygma Berzerk and coming out of the closet recently with that whole thing. And second, because Fairlight Children really don’t fit in this genre (even

Ffa Coffi Pawb - Am Byth album artwork

Ffa Coffi Pawb Am Byth Empyrean Before Gruff Rhys was mesmerizing the world with Super Furry Animals, he and a cast of characters who would go on to play in Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci, Mogwai and Cornelius were kicking around Wales as Ffa Coffi Pawb. Am Byth is a compilation pulled from their three albums and

Review: Fidlar – Self Titled

Posted on June 28, 2013 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

In the songs of Fidlar, with titles including “Cheap Beer” and “Wake Bake Skate,” and lyrics like, “I drink cheap beer so what fuck you,” the subject matter reminds me of a less trashy take on The Trashies.  … read more

Review: Feel No Other – Self-Titled

Posted on April 30, 2014 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Like blind men in a theater, we’re taken through a cinematic story of sounds: Lush vistas of synth and layered orchestrations, courtesy of Brian McKenzie, pillow strong operatic vocals from Claudia Gregory, whose voice is rarely off-pitch and acts as a striking complement to the vast soundscapes. … read more

Eyehategod - Self-titled album artwork

Eyehategod Eyehategod Housecore Street: 05.27 Eyehategod = Crowbar + Sourvein + Outlaw Order What’s fourteen years with no full-length album mean for Eyehategod? A whole lot of nothing other than what was just pointed out. The musicians had ample bands, Outlaw Order, Arson Anthem, Down, Soilent Green so on and son on to fill their

Posted on September 3, 2014 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt
