Review: Bleached

Posted on May 28, 2013 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

They’re like Vivian Girls, but more polished and with better singing, like Best Coast, but punk rock. Jennifer and Jessica Clavin, formerly of the all-girl punk band Mika Miko, join with Jonathan Safley and Sara Jean Stevens to form LA’s Bleached.  … read more

Review: Bleeding Rainbow – Yeah Right

Posted on June 3, 2013 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Doubling their ranks and replacing “reading” with “bleeding” in their moniker means these Philadelphians become even more annoyingly aligned with Shields, Butcher and the other anglo-forefathers of pop-inflected sneaker gazing. … read more

Review: Blood Ceremony – The Eldritch Dark

Posted on June 4, 2013 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

While many listeners may expect to hear the overdriven Black Sabbath worship of Living With The Ancients, Blood Ceremony take a clear step toward their folk influences on The Eldritch Dark. … read more

Review: Bonobo – The North Borders

Posted on June 27, 2013 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Strange and inconsistent effects and backbeats on this album suck you into a lucid dreamscape of seemingly impenetrable auditory hallucinations … read more

Review: BoySetsFire – While a Nation Sleeps

Posted on July 23, 2013 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

In an alternate universe, BoySetsFire would enjoy the popularity that the endless stream of emocore (or scene, or whatever they’re called these days) bands receive. … read more

Review: Blouse – Imperium

Posted on October 2, 2013 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Blouse Imperium Captured Tracks Street: 09.17 Blouse = Beach House + Still Corners When I first heard this album, I could’ve sworn that I’d already heard it. The dreamy female vocals combined with a fairly simple upbeat indie rock sound seem pretty generic, but not necessarily in a bad way. Although nothing experimental or new

Review: Boys Noize – Fabriclive 72

Posted on December 31, 2013 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

The album starts off with up-tempo electro-house beats that would be all too fitting for a day club environment, then eases into deeper house and heavier bass that forces the target audience to visualize being in an underground, laser-fueled rave. … read more

Review: Blood Orange – Cupid Deluxe

Posted on February 6, 2014 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Cupid Deluxe encapsulates the finest that pop has to offer from the ’80s to now. Sexy pop stars from Prince to Michael Jackson infiltrate Hyne’s stylings while he manages to sound less pretentious and just as mysterious due to his lyrics, which revolve around heartbreak and bitterness. … read more

Review: Bones – Sons of Sleaze

Posted on February 6, 2014 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Sons of Sleaze is an appropriate title for this romper stomper of a record. It’s funny how it sounds sloppy as hell but it all congeals into a mess of a crusty death metal record. Its speed is built up on punk and hardcore anthems of old but has the grit of an OSDM record.  … read more

Review: Bleeding Rainbow – Interrupt

Posted on March 6, 2014 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

If only I had a chance to listen to this album my sophomore year of high school. Pop punk mashes surprisingly well with a soaring, ’90s infusion of grunge. … read more
