In this episode of SLUG Soundwaves, musician Stella Standingbear sits down with SLUG to talk about her upcoming EP, Still Standing. Written and recorded over the course of a year, Still Standing tackles issues of generational trauma and mental health. Drawing inspiration from MF Doom and conscious rap, Standingbear’s music combines alternative trap beats and melodic vocals to deliver an uplifting message. “What attracts me to this kind of music that I make is the frequencies my mind, body and soul are attracted to and radiate,” she says. Still Standing is set to release March 23 on all streaming platforms.
