2014 Utah Arts Festival 06.28 with Better Taste Bureau, Juana...
Having spent close to 20 hours over a three-day period at Library Square, all I saw was people enjoying the arts, presented in almost every form imaginable. There were thousands of attendees, some long lines and crowded walkways, but I personally never heard so much as an ill word exchanged between festival-goers. The festival, its attendees, and Salt Lake City should be very proud of that. … read more
2014 Utah Arts Festival: Saturday 06.28
A four-day festival should always be an inclination that visiting for one day will never suffice. With countless music shows, performance art and activities, the ideal method for attending would to be calling in to work, and doing the whole affair from doors open to doors closed. Saturday felt as though all of Utah had done just that. … read more

2014 Utah Arts Festival: 06.27 with Hollering Pines, Hope &...
The second night of the Utah Arts Festival was a complete departure from the first. The sky was clear, no rain in sight, the crowds were full, and everything was generally amazing. … read more
2014 Utah Arts Festival: Friday 06.27
The perfect sunny weather warmed my skin as I chowed down on a burger and fresh cut fries from Scrumptious. I don’t think summer had started until that moment. This is the magic of the Utah Arts Festival, the ultimate curation of visual and performance arts that, for me, inspires for the summer months to follow. … read more

Beer Reviews
Now that we’re in the midst of summer’s full heat, it’s time to think about those thirst-quenching beers. Sure, you can visit the occasional double IPA or Belgian golden strong ale but, after mowing the lawn on a 90-degree-plus day, are you seriously going to tell me that you want something sweet with a little bit of alcohol burn? … read more
Fear No Film: Global Boundaries
The selections for this year’s Fear No Film festival have been eye-opening, to say the least. It’s nice to know that we still live in a world where boundaries are constantly being challenged and redefined, and even nicer to know that we have a local presence who believes it’s important to share these messages with our community. … read more
Mike Brown’s State of the Union Address, but for Juggalos
First and foremost, I need to preface this article with the fact that I, Mike Brown, am not a Juggalo. I know a lot of you don’t believe me when I say that, but it’s a fact. I’m more of an ambassador that can speak their ridiculous and not-so-cryptic language. As I’ve stated before, I am their Jane Goodall and they are my chimps. … read more
Princess Kennedy: Damn These Heels!
In addition to Pride, one great party I did this year was a big Pride weekend kick-off with the Utah Film Center and Damn These Heels!, their official LGBTQ and A (IDK what half of those mean) film festival. We brought out my ghoulfriend Peaches Christ, Drag Queen of the Macabre and filmmaker extraordinaire. Anyone who reads my rants knows that I am super invested in the Film Center. … read more
Fear No Film: Artistic Boundaries
The purpose of this Fear No Film category was to showcase ways in which filmmakers are pushing the limits of their craft. This type of filmmaking can be a mixed bag depending on the observer as it forces the viewer to look below the surface of what’s happening on the screen and begin to focus on the “why” rather than the “what.” … read more
