What the hell is an Ultra Lounge? Why would someone wait in line for 2 hours in the freezing cold for the chance to party with Pauly Shore? Honestly I don’t know, yet there I was again, carrying another 20 pounds of prominently branded crackers, jackets, lotions, sunglasses, headphones, body spray, water bottles, flash drives and chapstick. … read more

Over the last month Utah was been the hot spot for events especially those of the snow persuasion. Not only did we have the Winter Dew Tour rolling through for the first time ever, we also held the final Grand Prix of Snowboarding contest to determine who would be heading to Vancouver to respect Team America (fuck yeah!), played host to the X-Dance film festival for it’s 10th anniversary and also received about 8 ft. of snow in a week making for some last minute photo shoots and epic riding conditions in an otherwise lack luster early season. The Northface Masters 2010: Stop 1

I’m at the Urban Lounge early, drink in hand, waiting for the music to get started. At the smaller venues, it’s worth my time to show up this prematurely to maybe catch a glimpse of the performers while they aren’t all done up in PR mode. I don’t know why I do it—perhaps to feel included, perhaps just to reassure myself these artists who have provided essential soundtracks for my daily life are, in fact, real people. … read more

For pretty much as long as I can remember I’ve had a deeply rooted opposition to and disgust for mustaches. I guess it’s an unfair generalization, but from a young age I observed that the only people who had ‘staches were cops, weasel-faced Nazis, and guys who used one hand to turn up their Hank Jr. tape while using the other to polish the fender of their four wheeler after a holiday weekend at the sand dunes. A few years ago a new breed of mustache-wearer became far more prominent in the mostly still stagnant facial hair scene: the sarcastic hipster … read more
