Review: Bombay Bicycle Club – So Long, See You Tomorrow

Posted on March 6, 2014 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

The first half of the album is a lot of fun for the polite English quartet, and “Home By Now” is the album’s standout track. “Overdone” is a strong opening to the album, but “Luna” is ambient indie pop trash, and you can blame the success of Passion Pit and MGMT for its endorsement. … read more

Review: BOYTOY – Self-Titled

Posted on April 30, 2014 (May 18, 2023) by Asha Pruitt
Cover art for Self-Titled by BOYTOY.

BOYTOY drops this fuzzed-out, pop- alt rock into the laps of the dazed populace.  This album plays through slowly and drawn out. The opening track, “Helluva Party,” is heavy and full of distortion. … read more

Review: Blue Matches – Starting Over

Posted on June 3, 2014 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Going for a throwback to the ‘90s with this one, with femme rock fit with fuzzy guitar riffs that briefly breach into a more hardcore, alt-punk pop along the same lines as Pink or maybe Good Charlotte. … read more

Review: Boozoo Bajou – 4

Posted on June 3, 2014 (January 24, 2022) by Asha Pruitt

Enter Boozoo Bajou, a couple of fellows from Germany with a band name so bad, they ought to be dick punched. Their music is pretty, I suppose, and I’ll admit it does create “a mood.” The problem is that the mood is a bit—zzz … … read more

Blood and Sun White Storms Fall Pesanta Urfolk Street: 11.11.13 Blood and Sun = Death In June + Sol Invictus White Storms Fall is a neofolk gem that presents itself without any of the political baggage of the movement’s controversial pioneers Douglas P. and Boyd Rice. That’s not to say that Blood and Sun isn’t

Swiss black/death band Bölzer began to rumble the underground just two years ago with their demo, Roman Acupuncture. The rumbling and crushing grew further after the band played to U.S. masses at the 2014 Maryland Death Fest. … read more
